Denton-based Patriot Development & Construction will build as many as 864 units as part of a multifamily development project in partnership with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Patriot, a veteran-owned company specializing in multifamily, retail and office spaces, has been awarded a contract for the first phase of the development, which will bring six three-story apartment buildings — 216 units — to the Southwest portion of the U.S. Highway 70 offramp and South 9th Street in Durant, Oklahoma. Though the company has not received a contract for further units yet, the project could have as many as four phases, for a total of 864 units.

The multifamily development is expected to help address the rental housing demand in the area. Estimated rents have not been released, but Choctaw will set prices following the build, Patriot President Justin Beedle said.

The first phase of the project, which also includes clubhouses, an outdoor pool and other amenities, broke ground last week and is projected to be complete by June 2024.
